2001 DC sport hissing and loss of... (AC)
Auto Tag: Caravan/VoyagerWhen I have the air or the heat on it will intermittantly make a hissing noise. It comes and goes. I had a guy look at it and he just passed it off as the compressor gearing up or down. I know this to not be the case since its so spuratic and noisy. It also does it whenever I have the air or heat button on regardless of what I am running.
Help....
The heater and ac ducts are controlled by vacume lines coming from the engine. It sounds like one of the vacume lines could be leaking. Sporatic hissing could be caused by a loose not broken vacume line.
Check under the dash to make sure the vacume lines are tight. If you don't see any loose vacume lines the next time it hisses try to pin point exactly where the hissing is coming from and you should be able to detect the problem.
I hope this helps.
