h22a????
Auto Tag: Accord/TSX/Accord Hybridthe h22a comes from a prelude. it comes stock with a ton more horse than your typical civic or accord. i've only heard good things about the h22a though..
why would anyone talk shit about h22 its a good engine
Well, first off you should have thought about it a little more before you decided to "drop one in your ride". Perhaps even read up on the engine before you went mucking around. As for the shit talk about the h22 it's a difference of opinion. H22s are seen as a "quick fix" way of getting hp and tourque. So to some, myself included, it's seen as the wannabe ricer way to go. Not only that, but everyone and their Uncle do H22 swaps, I think it's just plain unoriginal. I don't mean to insult those with H22s, I certainly wouldn't mind waking up one morning and finding one in my engine bay. But in all seriousness I'd rather tune my f22 to get the most out of it, which by the way would smoke any swapped H22 with boltons. If you do it right, but it's all up to you.
how is h22 a wannabe ricer way to go???last i checked ive seen a lot more b series engines floatin around then ive seen a h22, an what kinda things do you plan on doing to a f22 that could smoke a h22 with minaor bolt ons? yeah h22 are seen as a quick fix, but shit for as much money as a damn h22 cost id sure as hell hope itd be a quick fix, so if u really feel that people with 200 hp stock engine are wannabe ricers what are you saying about the people who put the b16s an such
doode the same way those civics are getting there hi horsepowers just building the engine up, start from the basics boltons then work your way up to the engine internals then im sure u caould get 60 hp by the time ur done, itll cost u tho
Well of course there's the standard I/H/E. But as you've mentioned you've already done that. So I'd start with maybe some forged pistons and rods (for Nitrous just incase you want it), high preformance fuel injectors, camshaft, high preformance valves, what I'd personally like to do is swap my b2 head with one from a f22a2. SOHC VTEC, tune the shit outta that and run like the wind, for an Accord anyway. But yeah, I have an entier setup I made for a 4-cyl Accord lying around somewhere. When I find it I'll post it.
For the most part..I am a B-series fan. H22 swaps are pretty common with civics and accords, I suppose..but not so common in CRX's, because of the amount of fabrication. An H22A swap in a CRX easily costs' $6,000+ to finish. That's a lot of money, but the rewards are great, and I have only heard one complaint of a guy with an H22A in his CRX, and that was that he couldn't get much traction. So if the H22A is a "real" project, (ie: CRX) then I see nothing wrong with it. Just my .02 cents....
not to but in but i was lead to beleive that the h22 is not 200 hp 197 tq it's 195 hp 156 tq and the type s jdm i think is 220 hp with 161 tq i mean might be wrong about the jdm but the usdm should be about right
Yeah the H22 Type-S is 220hp. USDM just plain sucks, I'd never swap one of those in. And I think the difference between the hp figures you saw might have been whether the readings were taken at the flywheel or at the wheel. The Dyno at the flywheel shows a JDM H22a putting out an even 200 hp. But at the wheel that's going to be something like 192 or so.
actually a jdm h22 is 200hp@crank and about 170 at the wheels. on average youll lose 15% by the time it hits the wheels.
and i musta missed this thread a while back, but do you still think you can beat a h22 with a f22. and im not talking about a huge shot of nos, that doesnt count. with a h22 you have that power anytime you accelerate, you cant drive every minute of the day spraying.
you CAN beat and H22 with a F22 (and crap load of money) but the thing about the H22 is the DOHC VTEC and it's mad top end even though it has most tq in honda class 4cly (yes more than and S2K not by much though) but woul cares about tq when you got 200 or 220 hp the type s is the one every one wants but because the price is so high pepole usethe usdm H22 but anyway anything can happen if you have the money any thing can beat any thing i mean come on if you invest in a geo metro ( 1 million or so)it could maybe hang with nsx (but then again maybe not)
Okay, so doing an H22 swap into accords, tegs, civs, crx's has been done. Whether it's been done by everyone and their grand pappy or by just bozo the clown, it's been done. Done is done. By millions or 1. Done is done.
The big difference is are you wanting to be part of that small group of "Elitist" (assuming that they are the elite) or just wanting to have fun having some of the Speed Pie.
Me, I just wanna have a piece of the pie. Maybe there'll be enough for seconds and even thirds. Mmm Mmm.
Dr.Okka to the rescue but yea you do have a point some people just want made speed and some just want " just enough speed" (you kow the just n cause thing) but if you go all out the good for you but if you just wanna get an h22 swap and not tune it thats ok to cause it's your money
