there is No reverse syncro?
Auto Tag: Eclipse/Talon/Lasermy main issue im having rite now is that when i go to put my car in to reverse it pops out ... then grinds ... then my engine rev's.
i got a 1992 gs with a 4g63 non-turbo...
My main question is, the shop i took my car too is very shady and i heard storys from trusted people that i shouldnt go there, but i didnt listen and i let them put in a new clutch kit for me.
(the new clutch disk only has about 20miles on it so far)
im hopeing that my issue is due to becuase i need to adjust the linkage or bleed the line or the clutch needs to wear) but i dont know the systoms.
nope no reverse syncro. Sounds like you have bad linkage and could use your lined bled
thanks dude, now i needa figure out how to bleed my lines and adjust the linkage
Should be a bleeder on the slave cylinder just have someone push the clutch in and open the bleeder then shut it and repeat untill only fuild comes out. As far as the linkage visually inspect it and see if anything is broke/bent
The one I had would always grind when trying to engage into reverse. Have you tried putting it into 5th then first, to help line up the syncros...?
I usually put it in first before reverse that way you dont have to deal with the 5th gear lock out. Anyway reverse grinding is caused my clutch drag so I'm sure if a good bleeding it should go away
There is no way to "line up the synchros" since there is no reverse synchro, and they are all completely independant anyway. Going into one gear before another will sometimes help if that gear has a better synchro, and engaging that gear stops the input shaft. For reverse there is no synchro, but there is a reverse brake next to 5th gear on the end of the input shaft that is there to stop the input shafts rotation so reverse gears (straight cut gears, side engaged) can be engaged. If you put the the clutch, wait 10-20 seconds, and it goes into reverse, its a worn brake. If it doesnt change after that time, its a dragging clutch.
whats a dragging clutch?
a clutch that doesn't fully release causing the input shaft to keep turning even when the clutch is disengaged
